I love words. I especially love playing with words, the way subtle shifts in emphasis can create a whole new level of meaning, and the way one title can mean a variety of things. That's why I've called this blog Allie On Life. I mainly use it as an arena to write out my thoughts on a variety of topics in life. Many of my posts lately have had a very spiritual tone, but I am a spiritual person, and I have spiritual thoughts, so that's just how it goes sometimes. I also like to write about movies, food, and various forms of entertainment, but mostly books.
This blog isn't only about books ... but it is often about books. I love books. I love reading them, looking at them, talking about them, and yes, even writing them. Most of my posts focus on my thoughts on books I've read or occasionally about the writing process. Sometimes I have thoughts about other things, like following Christ, stuff that bothers me, and just ... life. I also occasionally have thoughts on my kids on parenting, but I post those on a different blog, The Snukeville Herald-Gazette. This blog is just about me. As a mom, I need that sometimes.
Usually, I blog about books that I borrow from a friend or the library. I don't buy books very often, because I don't have much of a budget. I enjoy reading free books, and if I am given a book for the purpose of reviewing it, I will mention that in the review. Otherwise, you can assume that I either bought or borrowed the book for my own purposes and am just sharing my thoughts because that's what I like to do. I do not guarantee that others will enjoy the things I write about or have positive experiences with them. I am just sharing my own opinion.
Previously, this blog was titled My Favorite Things, and obviously, I only posted about things I liked. I believe in keeping the Internet as positive as possible, but the fact is that I don't like everything in life, and sometimes I have thoughts I want to share that aren't totally positive. But I will keep my language clean and limit my rants as much as possible. Honestly, I know that few people will ever see this blog, and if on occasion I post about something that bothers me, I believe those few people will be okay with it. If not, don't read the blog! And stay off the Internet, for that matter. It's a crazy, ugly, mean word out there.
Most of the time, I love life. I find the world around me to be an amusing, puzzling, entertaining place. If I ever get a "high," it's from simply enjoying life with the people around me, most of whom I love. So maybe I'm a little odd sometimes, maybe I'm a bit of a nerd, maybe I'm a Jesus freak, but mostly I'm just ... Allie On Life. See what I did there?
